Michael Edgar Drew, MbeDAVISMichael Davis passed away peacefully at home in Bath on Monday, 7th July 2025, aged 87 years. Born, raised, and educated in Bath, he excelled both academically and in sport, later earning an MA from Oxford University and an MBA from Cranfield Business School.

Michael enjoyed a highly successful career in the financial sector spanning over 35 years. After retiring in the mid-1990s, he returned to Bath and dedicated himself to voluntary work at a senior level. His contributions included work on the restoration of the Kennet & Avon Canal (1996-2007), involvement with Somerset County Cricket at the Recreation Ground (2007-2019), and serving as Director of the Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution (2014-2023), where he was also Convenor of the Adelard of Bath Programme.

Michael was a loving family man, and a great friend and colleague to many. Kind, thoughtful, and caring, with a remarkable memory for detail, he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Anne, his daughter, Camilla, and his grandson, Barney.

A memorial service will be held at St James the Great, Old School Hill, South Stoke, Bath, on Tuesday 26th August at 3.00 pm, followed by a reception at the Village Hall in Southstoke. All are welcome.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Bath Rugby Foundation charity. Information can be found at https://michael-edgardrew-davis.muchloved.com/ Clarkson's Independent Funeral Directors
